This series was shot in a private historic house which had been inhabited by the same two families for over 500 years. Their belongings, furniture, pictures and bric-a-brac all co-exist here in a dimly-lit muddle, hinting at lives played out over the centuries. Here I was interested in exploring ideas about the space of the past itself. And so I intervened, bringing into the house objects and people from my own life and my own memories, hoping to disrupt and suggest the past as a space of limitless narrative possibility.
