Lost Objects

After the death of someone I loved I came across a box of faded transparencies in his garage. They showed a town that did not look as it looked when it became my home some 20 years later, people who did not look as they did when they became my family, others I never met, events I never attended – and yet through years of closeness I heard about them all so often I came to think of them as almost my memories. I decided to make this work because the word ‘almost’ intrigued me. I wanted to explore what almost in this context could mean, and just what it was that might be missing. In this process I became increasingly obsessed with extremes of colour, shape and form, and exaggeration that reached the point at which the boundaries of these lost objects themselves were lost.
