Small Town

A breeze is conjured up,

swirls at the junction on the new by-pass,

eddies along tarmac to the industrial estate, and licks

at the rubbish at the corporation tip to blow

not-so-sweetly into the evening of a small town.

I photographed six model towns in all, from Devon to the Cotswolds, and was particularly interested in those that were scale models of the real towns in which they were located. One of these coincidentally resembled a small county market town where I spent some of my teenage years. And so I decided to ‘people' my photographic village and take as my subject aspects of 'small-town-ness'.
